About Us

Empowering Women. Building Futures. Transforming Communities.

Girls in Tech Zimbabwe is a mentorship-driven community platform designed to support, inspire, and elevate girls and women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Research, and Mathematics (STERMs) across Zimbabwe.

We believe every girl — no matter her background or location — has the potential to become a changemaker through technology and innovation. From rural villages to urban centers, we’re building a network of mentors, learners, and allies to close the gender gap in tech and research.

Who We Serve:
  • High school and university students seeking direction or inspiration in STERM.
  • Young professionals navigating their early tech careers.
  • Women looking to transition into tech or upskill in research and innovation fields.
  • Mentors ready to give back and grow a new generation of women leaders.
Why It Matters

In Zimbabwe, girls are underrepresented in science and tech spaces — not because of lack of talent, but because of limited access, encouragement, and visibility. Girls in Tech Zimbabwe exists to rewrite that narrative.

Together, we’re proving that when girls rise in tech, entire communities rise with them.

Happy Students Say

“ Before joining Girls in Tech Zimbabwe, I didn’t even know coding was for people like me. I thought tech was something for boys in Harare. But through the mentorship program, I met my mentor, Nyasha, who works in cybersecurity. She showed me that I could start learning right where I am, even with just my phone. Now I’m building a simple app to help my mom manage her market stall stock — and my dream is to become a software engineer! ” Rumbi Student
“ After university, I felt lost and unsure of how to enter the tech industry. The Girls in Tech Zimbabwe platform connected me with real women already in tech. My mentor didn’t just guide me with job applications — she helped me build confidence, polish my GitHub, and practice for interviews. Last month, I landed my first full-time job as a web developer. I now volunteer to help others like me, because I know what it means to be supported. ” Tendai Jnr Developer
“ I joined Girls in Tech Zimbabwe not as a mentee, but to give back. I work in agricultural tech, and I believe our rural girls must see that STEM is not just for cities. Through this platform, I mentor girls in surrounding schools, showing them how research and technology can solve problems in their own communities. Seeing a girl’s eyes light up when she learns she can be an innovator — that’s why I do this. ” Chiedza Mentor
